No Body Cares
I always love the saying “Those who matter don’t care and those who care, don’t matter.”
Like so many things… embracing that mantra is much easier said than done, but Bernard Baruch was onto something back in 1960. He’s the one who coined the phrase.
I’ll be honest with you. I’m not a modest person when it comes to my showing my body. I’ll give the warning now… if you are someone who doesn’t like to see other people’s bodies… you may want to click that back button in your top corner… Ok, you’ve been warned.
I’ve had pictures taken by the most amazing boudoir photographer Cindy Johnson both while pregnant and not. She’s located in south of Indianapolis in the Greenwood, Indiana area. I had a Linsey Renee Mason - Indiana Birth Photographer at my daughter’s birth. Hey, I even took my top off on a beach at sunrise just to have my husband capture a few photos of the end of my breastfeeding journey with our last child. All of these pictures I love and are deeply empowering to me. None of them have been retouched. There are dimples, folds, and scars. None of which make me any less worthy or beautiful than anyone else, unless I let them.
I think the human body is beautiful. Yours… and mine.

I don’t find it offensive or something you have to cover up or hide away. I mean… could I really be a birth videographer if I did??? Absolutely not. And I’m telling you this because I don’t want your own negative self-talk to convince you not to capture memories. Not to take those maternity pictures, the birth video, a boudoir session for your partner, or just a random beach selfie.
I will say, while I have had so many of these meaningful images captured and I truly believe in documentation. I have held back in sharing some of them. I’ve worried what friends will think… what family will think… I’ve even worried what random strangers who find them on the world wide web will think. Societal norms can be suffocating, right?
But really… we are our own worst critics. We see things that others don’t see and certainly won’t criticize and you know what? If they do… ew… they are not your true friends. Nobody cares or rather have NO BODY CARES.

Now listen… I’m not telling you to let yourself go and forget about your health and well-being. If you have goals for your body… I will be your biggest cheerleader. But do it for you. Do it because it’s something YOU want. Not to fit a mold or become something you think you have to be or you’re supposed to be.
And if you love your body just as it is… with all the flaws and perfect imperfections. Own it. Share it. I promise it will be empowering. And if anyone comes at with criticism… go back to the phrase at the top of this.
