What my experience brings to your birth
Compassion. Knowledge. Love.
What I won’t bring… my scars, my successes, my opinions, my expectations, or my judgement.
One of my favorite things in the whole world is telling my children’s birth stories and listening to others. I love it. One thing I’ve heard a lot from other mothers when I share my stories is something along the lines of ‘Wow, you’ve really experienced everything!’
To explain, I’ve had a cesarean section following a failed induction. I had a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) following natural labor with an epidural and four hours and 15 minutes of pushing. I experienced precipitous labor (labor that lasts less than three hours from the start of contractions to the birth of a baby) that lead to an unmedicated en caul birth (when the baby comes out still inside an intact amniotic sac). And I also experienced a successful induction with an epidural and about 10 minutes of pushing.
Have the births of my babies been interesting and really different? Yes!
Have I experienced everything? No way.
I’ve given birth to four babies. Each different and unique. And every birth I attend and every birth story I listen to by word of mouth or watch through the art of photos and video is just as special.
So what I don’t want to be as your birth doula and videographer is someone who believes I’ve done it all and know it all.
What I know is that plans are only plans. Knowledge is endless and we always have more to learn. And love is the most important thing to have in your birth space.
I hope my experiences and knowledge can provide you extra confidence in your own abilities. I hope my experiences show you that every birth is valid. I hope my experiences show that the possibilities and twists and turns of birth are countless.
This is why I love documenting births. I know as long as God allows me to provide this service to mamas and babies, I will never watch the same story unfold twice.
